Dental Assisting: Books

This guide is designed to assist students in the Dental Hygiene program to find library and Internet resources to help them with their studies.

Browsing the Collection

Most of the library's resources are shelved by call number according to the Library of Congress classification system. Some LC call numbers of interest to dental hygiene students are:

Q - Science
QM - Human anatomy
QP - Human physiology

R - Medicine
RK - Dentistry

Catalogue Searching - Tips & Tricks

Truncation - When searching the library catalogue, use truncation to expand your search terms. Enter dental assist* to retireve all records containing these search words plus any endings.  The asterisk (*) is a substitute for endings to the word assist, such as assisting and assistants, allowing you to retrieve both.

Reserves - When the call number for the book indicates that it is a RESERVE item, it can be retrieved at the Library Help Desk.  Most RESERVE items mush be used in the library only.
